Here we are standing in front of Elvis's Gate to Graceland. The guard said Elvis was in Kalamazoo. |
We stayed at the nicest campground last night. The weather is very nice today but getting a little chilly. I may have to switch to long pants again today. Right after leaving Graceland we stopped and we switched back to shorts. We saw a lot of farmland today, some flat and some with rolling hills. We did finally see the Loess Hills in Missouri. We learned that the hills are made almost entirely of windblown soils. Toward the end of the ice age, winds picked up soils that had been ground as fine as flour and formed dunes along the ancient waterway that became today's Missouri River. They are unique to see and we enjoyed looking at them. We made it to Jeff and Tricia's late in the afternoon and they made us a wonderful dinner and we're about to call it a night./Marilyn
