Casper, Wy

June 29, 2011-Wednesday-   We left Yellowstone this morning and heading for Casper, Wy tonight.  We seen everything we wanted to in Yellowstone and heading out the East entrance toward Cody, Wy.  It’s such a beautiful drive.  We’re back in touch with the girls since our cell phones came back on after we arrived at Fishing Bridge.  Cody has grown a lot since I was there in 1966.  I could hardly recognize any of the landmarks I remembered.  We arrived in Casper, Wy around 4:45p.m.   We made it just before the storm hit.  Unsure where we’ll be tomorrow at this time, we’ll see! /Marilyn

Yellowstone National Park 6/28/2011

June 28, 2011-Tuesday-   We moved to a different campground today, it’s near the west side.  The Madison doesn’t have cell phone service and then of course that means it doesn’t have internet either.  We’ll make the best of it.  Dave fired up the generator and I made coffee this morning and he made breakfast.  We left to see Old Faithful since we missed it last time.  It’s always spectacular.  On our way back there were two Bison in the middle of the road causing a traffic jam.  They were in one lane and we drove by them in our lane.  It’s crazy to see them this close.  Their face is quite homely.  Not much further up the road we saw another coyote.  So many people had stopped to take photos that you could hardly get through.  We didn’t stop since I had taken a good photo the other day.
We’ve decided to leave Yellowstone tomorrow morning.  We have pretty much been through the entire park.  We’re taking a look at the map tonight and plan our route. /Marilyn

June 27, 2011- Yellowstone-Jackson Hole

June 27, 2011-Monday-   We had an awesome day!    We packed up the Airstream and headed for Grant Village which is near the South Entrance.   About a ½ mile from the campground we saw a coyote running down the side of the road.   We got a few good pictures and moved on into the campground.  Once we we’re all set, we headed off to Jackson Hole, Wy and saw a herd of Bison and Elk.  We’re now in Jackson Hole and driving by the Elk Refuge, but the only thing out there was antelope. LOL !   The place we wanted to have lunch at doesn’t serve lunch only dinner.   Darn, we were looking forward to that all day.
We saw the fabulous TETONS, what a beautiful site.  The drive back to Yellowstone is so amazing because the last time we were here all you could see was the destruction that the fire had done.  Now it’s green from all the natural seeding and so B E A U T I F UL!!!!!  A bunch of cars have pulled over, the tripods, extended camera lenses and people are on top of their vehicles waiting for the bear to come out.  We decided not to stop and wait.  We did see a momma Elk and her baby on the way back.
We‘re surrounded by young people, their kids, and campfires.  It reminds us of our camping days with our kids.  We didn‘t make it back in time to get firewood so we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to have a campfire. L /Marilyn

Yellowstone National Park 6/26/2011

June 26, 2011-Sunday -    Our friends called last night and said they we’re heading to Cincinnati to their daughters.  We wished them safe travels and asked them to keep in touch.
This morning we headed into Yellowstone National Park and the first thing we did is get David’s senior past.  Awesome, we can get camping half price and see most of the National Parks without paying to get in.  We traveled throughout the park and saw several Bison and a few Elk on the road and in the fields.  We saw so many beautiful waterfalls, mountains and lakes.  We had lunch at the Old Faithful Lodge, but missed the eruption.  We've decided to stay three days in the park since we can camp for $11.00 a night and I’m sure we will see Old Faithful then.  After we set up camp tomorrow  we're going to Jackson Hole for the day. We’ve been there before and loved it   When we get back we're going to have a campfire!!     We’ll look at the map and decide what's  next. Marilyn

Gibbon Falls near the west entrance to the park. Marilyn and I noticed how out of breath we were with the short walk to the falls. We are both out of shape but this was terrible. Then we realized that besides being out of shape we were also at almost 7000 feet elevation. Wheeeew dodged another one

Marilyn spotted these two fishermen.

Old Faithful was unfaithful today we missed the eruption. LOL

Had to stop for this elk to cross the road

These two got into a little fight over grass right after this picture

Here we are

This is a shot to the southeast across Yellowstone Lake

Most of the rivers are flooded they had to close one road in the northeast corner of the park

Shelby, Mt to Yellowstone National Park

6/25/2011-Saturday-   Just a quick Hello and Happy Birthday to Tess and Lynnann!
We left Shelby, Montana this morning and heading toward Yellowstone National Park.  We’re not sure that we’ll make it to Yellowstone because our friends may call and catch up with us.  Jerry and Riva wanted to go to Glacier National Park this morning.  We had heard two reports that you could'nt get to far into the park.  One report said 8 miles and the other said 12 miles.  We decided if we couldn't see all of it, we would come back.   We restocked all of our food in Bozeman, Mt, and heading for Yellowstone.  It’s 3:00 o’clock and they hav'nt called, so we think they've changed their minds.  We’re off to Yellowstone National Park and going to stay here for a couple of days.  Once we've driven all over the Park, we’re going to head for Jackson Hole and then Cody.  There're  so many mosquitoes here in the park.  This is only the second time we've had to use OFF!   We’re so glad to have it.   We didn’t see any wildlife today, but tomorrow is only a few hours away. /Marilyn
