June 8, 2011 - Today is a very special! My Mom and Dad would have been married 79 years and Judy graduated 44 years ago today. We took pictures of Mt. McKinley early this morning while it was clear and we're able to see Mt. McKinley 20,320 feet, Mt. Foraker, 17,400 feet, and Mt. Hunter, 14,573 feet. The papa, the momma and the baby mountains. The Kahiltna Glacier is the longest glacier in Denali National Park (45 miles long and 3 miles wide), and is the climber’s base camp.
We spent another day in Talkeetna because David wanted to fly a float plane and Jerry and Reva wanted to take a flight that landed on a glacier. David went with a gal from Louisville, KY and flew to several lakes, landed and took off. He had a blast! The weather was beautiful and his flight was fantastic. Jerry and Reva took a flight to see, and land on a glacier. They landed on Kahiltna Glacier and saw some of the climbers getting ready. They talked to a couple of the climbers that took their picture landing and they took picture getting their gear together for the climb. What a fantastic day for everyone. We are heading out for Fairbanks in the morning after checking the weather. It’s a little cloudy and rainy in Denali National Park and so we will come back to that on the 17th or 18th of June. / Marilyn
