Last Day in Fairbanks-June 14, 2011

June 14, 2011- Fairbanks-   After talking to Jerry and Reva this morning, it was decided that we could finish everything today and leave Fairbanks tomorrow.  So Dave and I headed out this morning to make our last stops here.  We checked our food supply and propane.  We only need a few groceries and get one propane tank filled.   We found the propane place and they said they needed to recertify the tank before they could fill it.  We left the tank and went and picked up the few groceries we needed and went back and picked up the tank.  While Dave put the tank back on, I put the groceries away.  We headed out again and stopped at the gift shop, as I needed one more thing!  We filled up the truck with diesel and it was only $4.32 a gallon.  We feel like we had hit the jack pot.  J
We’re now off to see the Museum of the North at the University of Alaska.  It has been recommended to us several times and we found it to be very nice and interesting.  The men and women here lived through some tough and harsh winters.  The gold rush was good to some and not so good to others.   The animal exhibits were fabulous and the artwork was nice.   If you get to Fairbanks we would recommend this museum.
We’re heading to the “Salmon Bake,” again.  Jerry and Reva couldn’t make it last night and they want to go tonight.  Once again the food was terrific and the atmosphere was fun.  We’re now on our way back to the campgrounds to pack and start getting ready to leave tomorrow.  Dave is taking the truck to be serviced first thing in the morning: oil change, new fuel filter, tires rotated and so on and so on!  All I know is the bottom line $ $ $ $!!!!   L   I will do laundry while he’s gone.    We’ll probably leave Fairbanks around 12:30p.m. and head for Tok, AK. / Marilyn
