June 17, 2011-Friday We read that Anchorage had a 5.2 Earthquake on Thursday. There were no reports of damage or injuries and I’m glad we missed it.
We left Tok, AK and we are on our way to Whitehorse, Yukon. We stopped at the Canadian Border and I shut my cell phone off. L All went well at the border and we’re in Yukon driving on the Alaskan Highway seeing the same thing only different. What I mean by that is, in May the lake was still frozen and no leaves on the trees. We didn’t see any beautiful yellow, purple or lavender flowers as we did today. It’s so beautiful both ways in different seasons. We drove 400 miles today and spending two nights in Whitehouse. Dave doesn’t like the looks of one of our tires on the trailer, so he’s replacing it with one of the two spares we have with us. Some of the roads were pretty bad today and it was slow going for a while. First we had rain and when the rain quit it became dusty. I’m not sure which one was better. We did see the hind legs of a black bear today as we came around a curve. The bear had just crossed the road and was on the edge of the woods. By the time we got there, he was out of sight. L We didn’t see any other wildlife today and probably not tomorrow, maybe Sunday! /Marilyn
