Anchorage, Alaska

May 17, 2011-Anchorage, Alaska  We will be spending the next few days in Anchorage, Alaska, as David is having a lot of back pain. He stepped up to get into the truck and felt something pop.  We are looking for a chiropractor to see him today.  We have several names but this doctor had a cancellation and it fit his schedule and ours.  Such a nice man!  He totally cared and did not want us to miss much time on our vacation.  He said that David's right side is very weak after his accident two years ago and at anytime that he steps in the wrong way he is subject to having the muscles tighten up and the nerves will cause the pain.  He worked on David for about 30 minutes and charged us a very small amount in case our insurance didn't pay.   David was able to walk out of his office and will go back on Thursday and let David know if he can travel again.  Our friends Jerry and Reva had several things they wanted to do today and happy to have a few days without travel.  They went to the ULU factory where they make a special knife and then to the train station and other shops while we were gone.  We are cooking most of tomorrow and freezing our food for our next traveling days.  We have SAMS, COSTCO, and a SUPER WALMART.  You can't go wrong with all of these available.  We decided not to get the Halibut due to the cost, only $16.95 per lb.  The one package I picked up was $25.14.  How can something so good,  cost this much?
We're off to Lake Hood tomorrow.  It is the world's largest and busiest seaplane base.  We will probably be there for a while because there is so much to do.  The museum has rare aircraft being restored, how to recover planes, and a flight simulator.  At their busiest time in the summer, they will have 800 takeoffs and landings.  We will probably take our lunch and eat it while we are watching. I'm excited to see all of this too./Marilyn
