Dawson Creek to Fort Nelson

All miles posts like the above are in km. The original mile posts were in miles and very few are still in existence. Now everything along the highway is noted by the old mile posts.

Peace River is a large area.

Watch out for the moose

We only drove 280 miles today.  We left Dawson Creek around 8:00a.m.  The drive was pretty desolate.  Although after a few miles we could see the Canadian Rockies and they are beautiful.  So far the Alaskan Highway is pretty nice.  It doesn't look any different than any other road and we saw a Caribou not far from Suicide Hill.  Very steep Hills and no guard rails.  We are sitting here eating lunch enjoying the view of the Mountains with the peaks covered with snow.  It rained hard for a while today and we stopped at Fort Nelson for the night.  Our neighbor, Maryellen made marinara sauce before we left.  So David fixed that and we had her delicious sauce over Penne with fresh baked bread.  According to our Mile Post book, tomorrow will be interesting.  The road is narrow, winding and no guard rails.  They said to expect to see Black Bears.  I can't wait./Marilyn

I thought I would give everyone an idea how far it is to where we are tonight, Here is the GPS distance:
Louisville Ky 2638 miles
Nicholasville Ky 2699 miles
Brant Mi 2677 miles
Wake Forest 3234 miles
Florence Ky 2600 miles
Albany Ny 4999 miles
