We drove from Mount Rushmore to Sheridan Wy today. We stopped at Dead Wood and Devils Tower. We cover about 300 miles and arewe're still getting about 12 MPG in the mountains. We took some great pictures but we cannot post them due to wifi limitations. As soon as we can get this worked out we will send them out. It is so beautiful here in Wy rolling hills and lots of sunshine. About 65 degrees today very nice. David
After waking up this morning to 27 degrees outside, the rest of the day turned out pretty good. I have to say that the heated seats in the truck came in pretty handy this morning. As you know, we don't use them very often in Florida, if ever. As we drove through Deadwood, we noticed a lot of dead timber on the surrounding hills. It was mainly caused by the abuse of the gold diggers. There are quite a few famous people buried in Deadwood such as James Hickok, (Wild Bill) Martha Canary, (Calamity Jane) are among them. Quite an interesting town. We then headed toward Devils Tower. Once we arrived there, we discovered that it is huge. Remember what movie was filmed there? Anyway in 1906 President Theodore Roosevelt proclaimed Devils Tower the first national monument under the new Antiquities Act. His action made Wyoming the home of both our first national park- Yellowstone in 1872 and our first national monument. We saw millions of prairie dogs running and playing. In all, it was a great day and tonight we are staying in Sheridan, WY. By the way, we saw a million antelope too, I'm pretty sure it was a million./Marilyn
