We left Skagway, Alaska around 10:30a.m. We thought we would stay for a day and sightsee. However, the town is the size of a postage stamp and we decided that we had seen everything and could and would move on. The Garden City RV Park wasn’t quite up to our standards. They lost their water because it froze and wasn’t sure when they would get it back. We said goodbye to our camping friends we had meet a couple days ago. They are retired Navy and are going to Juneau to work as guides for Whale watching. They guaranteed us that if we came to Juneau we would see a whale. They have a motorhome and it will cost them $750.00 to take it across the ferry. I’m sure that we can skip that.
As we head out to Whitehorse, Yukon, Jerry and Reva saw a bear. He came out on the road after we passed by. They got several pictures of the bear and we have now stopped to see the Stone Sheep and taking several pictures. We traveled on and decided to fill up with gas and get a sandwich at McDonalds. I wanted chicken selects and Reva wanted a fish sandwich. They have never heard of either one. Reva and I laughed and decided since they had no milk shakes either, that they saved us a lot of calories.
It was early and we decided to push onto Haines. Oh my gosh! Dave spotted a MOOSE. A huge MOOSE! We stopped in the middle of the road, which they suggest that you don’t do and took a lot of pictures. How fabulous! We took more shots of the Mountains, which I found out were the Big Salmon Ranges and the St. Elias Mountains on the left. We have now stopped for the night. Oh NO! We don’t have WIFI and we can’t use our Wireless, no cable TV. We are really in the BUSH, as they say here in Canada. We will be back in Alaska tomorrow night. Sunday./Marilyn
