May 21, 2011-Saturday-We drove around Homer today and are learning more about it. We couldn’t believe that Holland America Cruise Lines came to Homer twice a month. I’m not sure why that surprises me –it just does. We drove out to Homer Spit this morning to check out the charters. We are going out Monday for a half day just for the Halibut! It’s fun to have a play on words which I learned from Debbie Lake, which she learned from Harry. Debbie had been invited to dinner just for the Halibut! We went to the Time Bandit’s store only to learn that the brothers, Jonathan and Andy are on tour in the lower 48’s. They are working two weeks out of the month to do interviews and promote their book. The women working at the store said they are very tired. L
We now decided to do the Skyline Drive and East End Drive. We had a great time seeing the Spit from the Skyline. We enjoyed the drive but didn’t see any wildlife. We dropped Jerry and Reva off at the campgrounds and continued on. We saw and photographed several eagles. Some were fighting mid-air. We’ve never seen anything like it. We stayed and watched them for several minutes. (45 minutes.) We continued on to Homer Spit and saw all of the Halibut hanging to be filleted and they then flash freeze them to be shipped. What a neat process. They think of everything: For A Price!!! It’s now 11:00p.m. and the sun is setting. It so weird to have it so light outside for so long./Marilyn
